The centre has contributed positively to the lives of hundreds of children since its opening over 15 years ago, and is a thriving and important part of the local and wider community. Children of all ages and abilities study maths and English programmes at the centre.

The Instructor at the centre, together with the team of 14 class assistants, consistently encourage and nurture every student to become the well-rounded, equipped, confident, capable and achieving individual they can be. Staff at the centre undertake regular training to ensure that instruction is current, relevant and of a high standard

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

Hi! I'm Ade, the Instructor at the Kumon Belmont Study Centre. I am proud to be a Kumon Instructor and feel quite privileged to be trusted to make positive contributions to the lives of students at our centre on their journey of life.

I decided to research Kumon and was intrigued by the founder's vision, foresight and principles, that the best education one could provide for a child is an individualised, independent and self-motivated study programme.

My own journey with Kumon started when my eldest daughters were four and three years old. I was amazed at their mental agility and ability to self-learn by inferring, deducing and making associations. It encouraged us into a study routine and family discipline.

I do say to my families...it is do-able! My girls are thriving and highly independent in their learning, and we never have to issue reminders about homework. They are strong and resilient, able to stay the course.

This conviction, as with all our students, will underpin your child's Kumon journey at the Belmont Study Centre. We truly look forward to welcoming you.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

My girls started at very young age with Ade & Team. learning from pencil control to writing numbers , phonics, reading all with kumon english and math. They progressed up and up. My oldest went to gold level for maths. Confidence and the routine kumon creates can’t be obtained anywhere. The tablet option for maths means kumon anywhere anytime. Thank you Ade for all the guidance and encouragement.

Ade and her very competent team run a very professional ,friendly and student centred study centre. Highly recommend this place as it’s a great start for children to build on Maths skills. There is a simple structure in place and it is worthwhile. I can see how quickly my son has improved and gained confidence in maths skills as he was struggling and losing interest at school. Ade is a great tutor. She is patient, supportive and great at building confidence. My son is really enjoying his time at Kumon.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
