"In my experience, Kumon will benefit every student in terms of confidence and mental agility."

When students arrive they hand in their completed work at the downstairs reception table. They are given their classwork and homework and come upstairs to the class where they are greeted and allocated to a table appropriate for the level of work which they are studying.
The students are usually in the class for about 30 – 40 mins depending what they are working on. All students studying the Kumon English will read in class each time they attend. Parents wait downstairs in the seating area provided where they can have a friendly chat. There are books on hand for siblings to look at whilst they wait.
As the students are complete their classwork, assistants' record the homework, checking that it has been completed and marked correctly. Students are encouraged to work independently, but I am on hand to help with any problems and we have a team of very able friendly helpers.
Once students have completed their work, it is marked and the corrections are done. The students choose from a range of educational puzzles whilst they are waiting.
All students must see me before they leave the class; we will discuss the work done and talk about targets for the coming week. As a motivational tool we give stickers for the homework which has been done and these can be saved to 'buy' prizes from our shop.
What if your child wasn't able to attend the last class? Children frequently are not able to attend their classes. If you know at least one class in advance I can bring the following week's work to the class for them. However, if they are ill on the day or another arrangement prevents you from attending, you can collect your child's work from my doorstep after the class. If you are unable to do this, please call me and I will post the work to you.
What if your child is stuck on their homework between classes? Whilst every effort is made to show students new work in the class, they sometimes forget or come across areas where they are stuck – particularly when they have been studying Kumon for a few years and are on the higher levels of the programme. I encourage students to email me with their questions – outlining the problem and the answers that they are getting so that I can see what they are doing. I will then email back an explanation to the student. |
