Meet the Instructor
The Kumon Frome Instructor: Susan Gatward
I have been the instructor at the Frome Centre since it opened in 2008. I have a background in mental health, research and psychology. More recently I was a primary teacher.
In 2009 my centre received the Kumon UK and the Kumon Europe and Africa award for the longest average length of stay for English students.
My son has been studying Kumon English since he was two. He is nearly four now and recently started the maths programme too. This has given me great experience of being a Kumon parent while watching the progress he makes each day.
The Frome Kumon centre provides children of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to learn with the Kumon Method. My aim is to support students to develop their maths, English and study skills, working alongside schools and in partnership with parents.
I want to foster students who will become independent learners, through:
• Building lasting confidence and self belief
• Developing excellent concentration skills and study habits
• Understanding how to achieve success through perseverance
• Challenging themselves through advanced study
Above all Kumon allows me to support children to reach their potential though individualised instruction at a pace that is right for them.
