The Kumon Kingsbury Study Centre was established over 9 years ago and offers both the maths and English programmes to students of all ages and abilities from as young as three years old. Students attend from many of the local primary and secondary schools in the Kingsbury and surrounding areas.

The unique Kumon maths and English Programmes aim to maximise the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study plans. The centre welcomes children that are looking to extend their learning and move onto more advanced work than the school curriculum allows, and we provide support and guidance to motivate students that need to recap and strengthen their academic abilities.

Regular parent meetings are held during the year to discuss student’s progress and to share study projections. All new parents are encouraged to attend a meeting after the first month of Kumon study.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

The centre operates both in-centre and online classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Did you know, you can now study Kumon using digital worksheets? This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

As an Ofsted registered centre, parents can make considerable savings through various schemes.

About the Instructor

My name is Darshan Shah, and I am very excited to meet you and get to know your children. I have been a huge advocate of the Kumon Method of Learning since being introduced to it through my own children’s studies, 17 years ago. I saw them travel through their own Kumon journey which enabled me to experience it first-hand and appreciate the extent that Kumon supports children in their education and prepares them for their future endeavours.

My own children had a very positive experience learning with Kumon and it has inspired me to get involved with helping other children realise their capability in the same way. We aim to contribute to the creation of a  generation of confident and independent learners who take pride in their studies. My aim is to develop every one of my students on an individual basis to enable them to reach their full potential and ensure that your family has an equally positive experience at the Kumon Kingsbury Study Centre.

I am thrilled to finally have this opportunity. I have recently completed thorough Instructor training at the Kumon Head Office and I look forward to developing and utilising all my skills, along with the trusted Kumon method, as your new Kumon Instructor at the centre.

Over the last five years, I have worked very closely with Naina Shah, the Instructor of the Kumon Stanmore Study Centre , so I have extensive experience in managing and working in a successful education centre.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
