"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"
Faye Liversage (aged 17), Kumon maths completer

About the centre

The Rothwell Centre runs twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 3.30 – 5.30pm. During this time students drop in to the centre to complete their work. The time they are at class varies depending on how much work they are doing, but typically it is 20-30 minutes for one subject and 30-45 for two.

When students arrive at the centre, they will swap over their homework, hand in completed work to the assistants and complete the worksheets set for that. Once that is completed, they will do some additional activities such as a numberboard, or pick a book from the centre library while their work is marked by the assistants. When the work has been marked, students check for and complete any corrections. They will then come and see me for feedback, collect stickers for every piece of work completed and then go home.

There are two assistants at the Rothwell Centre – Jo and Karen. Their role is to mark and record students classwork and homework and to support any students. Jo and Karen also assist with supplementary activities that students undertake in the centre, such as oral reading and the numberboards.

Whilst students are completing work, parents are invited to wait in the parents' waiting room. There is communication book to pass on any messages to me. This is to ensure that my time spent in the centre is 100% focused on observing and supporting students.

Enrolments are typically conducted in the centre after class hours and take about one hour to complete with parents and the student present. Students complete a Diagnostic Test to assess the correct starting point for them for the programme.
