Your child will receive individually-tailored work every day. The work for each subject generally takes 10-20 minutes a day, and your child will complete their work independently.
Once or twice a week, your child will attend the study centre. The centre is open for two hours and students can attend at any time provided they have time to complete their work. Students attend for around 30 minutes per subject. Children enjoy coming to the centre for a number of reasons, including:
When they arrive at class, students first swap over their homework. Their new assigned work, based on progress to date, will be found in the front of their named, class folders. Students put the completed homework in the back of the class folder and hand it in for records to be updated.
Students then find a seat and quietly work on their own. They put their name and start time on their work. When the work is completed, they put the finish time on the front sheet and then hand their work in for it to be marked by one of our able classroom assistants.
Younger students on the early levels of either programme will be looked after by and work with either the Instructor or an assistant. Gradually, as they become more independent, these students too will work on their own.
While the work is being marked, students are able to take part in a number of additional activities to support their learning. These include number boards, oral reading and oral arithmetic.
When their work is marked, then students return to their desks to do any corrections so that they can learn from their mistakes. With their work now 100% correct, students see the instructor before leaving class to receive positive feedback, discuss progress, receive certificates or answer any questions they might have. |
