In-Centre Class available KUMON CONNECT available Online Class available

Note: Wednesday classes are delivered online only.

The centre provides an enjoyable and friendly learning atmosphere in which students are encouraged to develop their study skills and grow in confidence. It attracts students from the local neighbourhood of Whitton, Twickenham, South-Hounslow, Hanworth and Isleworth, as well as other surrounding areas.

All the students are observed regularly to ensure they are working independently and smoothly. Staff at the centre undertake regular training to ensure that instruction is up-to-date and of a high standard and we welcome students of all ages and abilities. In the centre, students have been studying for a number of years and, at present, they range in ages from three to 16 years old. A student spends approximately 30 minutes per subject at the centre.

Students working at advanced levels are rewarded for their successes with certificates and medals at award ceremonies. Parent meetings are held twice a year to discuss the child's progress and further study projections. Parents are kept well informed of any activities and news through monthly newsletters.

Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

About the Instructor

My name is Tulika Gaur and since 2011, I have been a dedicated Kumon Instructor with a passion to provide quality education to children.

Gaining a Bachelor of Commerce (honours) from Delhi University and being a part-qualified Accountant from CIMA UK has enabled me to not only understand, but to also guide mathematics to higher level students. I also have a BA French degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, which has enabled me to specialise in language skills.

I have had extensive previous experience of working with children as a tutor since 2007. I believe that parents play a vital role in their child’s educational journey through Kumon and I have been a Kumon parent and seen for myself how the programme benefited my seven-year-old son. This encouraged me to become a Kumon Instructor so that I could help other children to achieve their maximum potential.

I encourage my students to become independent learners, to take responsibility for their own study and success and most importantly, to learn from their own mistakes. I find it extremely rewarding seeing their sense of achievement when they understand a new topic or excel in an achievement test.

I look forward to discussing the programme with you and would be delighted to welcome your child to the Twickenham Study Centre.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
