KUMON CONNECT available

Kumon study aims to ensure that every child develops a love for learning. We offer maths and English programmes to help students of any age and ability to progress their skills and build key foundations for learning. Traditional maths and English tuition helps students progress, but Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher.

Students complete daily worksheet study developing ability and fluency gradually over time, progressing in small steps and building confidence. They also visit their local study centre up to twice a week for guidance from their Instructor. Your child’s Kumon Instructor will set work at just the right level to challenge and keep them engaged, regardless of age or school year. This means that they can strengthen their key skills or progress beyond school grade level without restriction. Kumon offers a cost-effective and convenient way to help your child build strong English and maths skills for a successful future.

About the Instructor

I am a firm believer in education. An excellent education is the most important gift we can give our children and I wanted to develop and nourish my children’s ability as much as possible, by ensuring they were given the additional development to support their schoolwork.

Speaking to Kumon parents and after visits to a local centre I became very interested in Kumon, and began to train as an Instructor as I was very passionate in supporting children develop as I did with my own.

As an Instructor it is very rewarding to see a student progress through the stages and developing their full potential and succeeding in school. It is great working with my students, together setting goals that they work towards and being involved in their progress. Feedback from the parents advising how Kumon has improved their development and results at school is very rewarding for me.

I am very fortunate that I have a great team of staff to support me whom all share the same passion and belief in the programme. Together we work hard and ensure we have all the relevant training and support in place so that the centre runs smoothly and effectively.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
