About this centre

Having opened in 2012, the centre provides a highly personal service. Students at the centre currently range from five to 16 years old, living in the local communities. Students attend from as far as Hampton-in-Arden and Henley–in-Arden to as close as Knowle and Hockley Heath.

Attendance at the centre is flexible within the two hour slot that it is open twice a week, with many families enjoying the convenience of being able to come straight from school.

The friendly and professional team, including four highly trained assistants, run a well organised centre with close attention to detail to ensure that each student's needs are understood and catered for as they develop through the programme.

At the centre, feedback is given regularly to parents and children concerning their goals, progress towards them and current achievements.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

Hello. My name is Jane Blakey and I am the Kumon Instructor for the Dorridge Study Centre.

Like you, I care about my children's education a great deal and I have experienced first-hand how the Kumon programmes can help children excel. My son, Patrick, progressed through the maths programme for five years eventually reaching an advanced level at the age of 15. I know how much hard work and commitment is involved for both parents and children alike when studying Kumon and therefore how important it is to find different ways of motivating both you and your child.

I also experienced the reward of seeing Patrick make dramatic progress, not just academically but also in taking responsibility for his own learning, so that I can step back and trust that he will complete school homework and prepare well for exams – this is why I am so passionate about the Kumon approach.

I will be on hand to welcome all new parents and their children to make sure you are comfortable with what happens at the centre. All students see me before leaving the class and I review progress towards their learning goals. I will be looking for opportunities to encourage students through positive feedback and recognition of key achievements.
