I have been a Kumon Instructor with a correspondence-only centre since 2000 and have students living all over the UK and Europe.
The Kumon Maths and English Programmes allow each child to develop towards their full potential and become confident learners through individualised study. As the Kumon worksheets are designed to promote independent learning and guide the student step by step, they are ideally suited for students working by correspondence.
I post work out once a fortnight (monthly overseas), students complete their work each day and parents return the results to me by email at the end of each week. Any questions you have are discussed by email or over the phone and students’ targets and progress are closely monitored. Maintaining regular, open communication is vital to making working by correspondence a success.

I initially trained as a teacher, but went on to work in software development as a project manager and later in training. With small children to care for, working full time became impossible, so I was delighted to find Kumon in 2000 and begin my Instructor training. It seemed then to be the perfect opportunity to use all my management, organisational, training and teaching skills in a new way that would help other people and this has proved to be the case across the years.
Right from the start I catered for students who could not attend a local centre and established a way of offering the Kumon Maths and English Programmes by correspondence. Over the years, it has been my privilege to facilitate the development of many hundreds of students via the wonderful medium of Kumon. It gives me enormous pleasure to see students becoming confident independent learners, developing skills and understanding that is often well ahead of school level. Maintaining close communication with my students and their families allows me to monitor progress effectively so that I can support them through any difficulties and share in their successes.
