The Kingswinford Study Centre is a well-established and reputable study centre, based in 'The Bungalow' at Crestwood School on Bromley Lane. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday after school and every Saturday morning.

We provide high quality tuition in maths and English to children of all ages and abilities. The Kumon programmes support children of preschool, primary and secondary school age, as well as those in further education.

In addition to developing academic ability, we also support children in developing their study skills, confidence and a can-do attitude; which is vital to long-term success. Every child is different, and so their programme of study should be too. Our individualised programmes enable students to progress at their own pace, so they can realise their potential and experience success.

The centre employs class assistants to support the Instructor and the students on class days. All assistants are DBS checked and regularly attend first aid, manual handling and safeguarding training.

The unique Kumon maths and English programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Kumon is the world's largest supplementary educational provider, with over 4 million students studying on the programmes.

My name is Emma Wilkinson and I am the Instructor at the Kingswinford Study Centre. I am a qualified maths and English teacher, with more than 18 years’ experience of working with children in all key stages; including those with SEN. I have previously enjoyed a varied career in nursing, midwifery, early years and social care.

Becoming a Kumon Instructor in 2014, has given me great joy and autonomy to make a difference to the lives of many children. It is so rewarding to see a child grow in confidence and develop their work skills. My job is to nurture every child, to develop them academically and as a whole person. There’s nothing quite like sharing an ‘a-ha’ moment with a child at class!

My favourite part of being an Instructor is seeing a child who may have lost their confidence, regain it and hold their head up high. It’s lovely to see the difference you can make to a child’s learning, and it’s beautiful to see a child develop over time. I feel it’s a privilege to be part of a child’s Kumon journey and to know you’ve had a helping hand in it! No other job can better that.
