About this centre

The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

I first began my journey with Kumon as an Area Manager in the Birmingham regional office in May 2010. It was my decision to start a family that prompted the change from Area Manager to starting my own centre. I loved working with the Instructors, helping them to develop their centres however, the balance of being able to work around my daughter and really being at the heart of nurturing students in the centre was what I had realised I wanted to do.

The Kumon Northfield Study Centre opened in May 2013 and the study centre grew from strength to strength. The students continue to inspire and amaze me every day as they embark on their Kumon journeys and I am so grateful to be part of such a fantastic organisation which enables children to truly reach and fulfil their potential.

My daughter began studying the Kumon programmes when she was just two years old and is already in a specialised group for advanced children. Her vocabulary is of a child much older and undoubtedly this is down to Kumon especially with her immense love of books and writing.

I feel privileged and humbled that through the Kumon Method of Learning, I’m able to help the children in my local area build confidence and become independent learners.
