Area Manager

Salary €35,000 increasing to €37,500 after six months

As an Area Manager, your role is to support a group of our Instructors (franchisees) to ensure the growth of their business including the recruitment and retention of their students in their study centres. You will be based in our Dublin office, but will cover the Irish and Northern Irish region.

All Area Managers benefit from a six month on the job training programme in the UK.

Through effective relationship building, you will:
  • To proactively and consistently provide exceptional support and guidance to franchisees. Including, but not limited to, offering them strategies and advice on achieving targets, local advertising options, centre promotion, improving student retention and growing their study centre, etc.
  • Work closely with Kumon Instructors within a pre-determined geographical area; supporting them to fully succeed in their business in line with Kumon instructional and operational qualities and objectives. 
  • Through regular visits, individual meetings, and various other means of communication, you will provide hands-on and practical support to the franchisee including mentoring, coaching and training them to ensure they exceed theirs and Kumon’s agreed short, mid and long-term business plans, including working to agree targets for growth and retention.
  • Review and provide support and guidance in the assessment of franchisee performance by providing suggestions and advice on how Kumon franchised Instructors can manage their Kumon study centres more productively, whilst resolving any problem areas, assessing market conditions and creating initiatives and strategies to build brand awareness. 
  • Be instructionally proficient in the Kumon Method of Learning and support Instructors in their instructional development.
  • Motivate and promote a culture of self-development, encouraging new ideas and initiatives to guarantee the overall success of the franchisee business.

Key skills and experience required for this role are:
  • A passion for and experience of working in the education sector
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of preparing, managing and monitoring imaginative & innovative projects and/ or work programmes that meet & exceed targets.
  • Experience of working to deadlines and managing varied tasks.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of grade B in your Junior Certificate for maths and English (or equivalent)
  • A full driving licence (regional travel will be a regular requirement within the role)

The interview process will consist of:
  1. Initial phone interview with the hiring manager.
  2. If successful you will be invited to attend an orientation meeting/assessment day, in a centre around the country, all expenses paid. The assessment day will not be solely based on tests, but also presentations.
  3. The final stage will be a presentation followed by a Q&A session and a face-to-face interview.
