Kumon instils a sense of pride in Widnes student

Kumon has changed a lot of things in my son. I wish I had known about it a long time ago!

Eight-year-old Aaron Fairclough has been studying at the Widnes Kumon Study Centre since May 2012. His mother, Najat, recently got in touch to let us know how Aaron has been getting along.

She says: “Kumon has really changed my son. Before he started attending the classes I was really stressed and didn’t know how and where I should ask for help. I applied to his school for additional support and tried to teach him myself, but Aaron was not interested at all. I used to call my mum and cry and tell her how much I was suffering. I thought Aaron was just not interested and that I would have to accept it.

“However, one day I saw a Kumon advert. At first I didn’t think it would help but I thought I’ll give it a try. Jennie Harrison, the Widnes Kumon Instructor, welcomed us to her home with a beautiful smile and told me there’s no such thing as a stupid child. We then had a Free Assessment and enrolled on the Kumon programmes.

“Before Kumon, Aaron was below average in his class. After only a few months of attending Kumon he has changed and has jumped up two levels. His school teacher said that his concentration has improved dramatically, along with his maths and English skills. Aaron is now happy to go to school and is proud of himself. He actually feels confident, unlike before. I am so pleased with his progress and so happy that he can finally concentrate and do his work without saying ‘I can’t do it’.

“Kumon has changed a lot of things in my son and I wish I had known about it a long time ago. I am so grateful for Jennie’s support. She is such a lovely person and brings joy and hope to my heart every time I see her. Aaron talks about her and about Kumon to all of his mates in his class. He actually advises them to start the programmes!

“Thanks again from me and Aaron, and Aaron’s teacher who has asked me to thank you on his behalf.”
