"Kumon has been a big part of my life since my childhood and it is the reason for me doing so well in school. "

“Kumon has been a big part of my life since my childhood and it is the reason for me doing so well in school.”

15-year-old Fatima Raz enrolled at the Kumon Cardiff, Llandaff Study Centre when she was eight years old. Three years later she transferred to the Kumon Cardiff Canton Study Centre where she went on to complete the Kumon English Programme, mastering critique of high-level texts such as Shakespeare plays and Austen novels.

Fatima and her mum shared with us how studying Kumon has helped Fatima become more focussed and more vocal in English classes at school due to increased confidence.

Fatima’s mum, Farida, said: “We enrolled Fatima at Kumon due to the positive feedback I received from other parents about the improvements their children had made after they had enrolled in Kumon. We liked that children are encouraged to independently learn how to solve problems and develop time management skills, which it vital for future educational obstacles.

“At first, Fatima didn’t pay much attention to work and spent an extremely long time getting things on her own. Kumon has helped her to focus on her work and be aware of the time. She has turned into an independent worker who will only ask for help as a last resort. Kumon has also made her more responsible about getting her work done thanks to the worksheets she had to do daily. It has made her more vocal in English lessons because she is confident that she has the right answer, seeing as she has learnt to structure her answers well due to the helpful method that Kumon provides.

“Instructor, Jane Jones, has been very supportive by telling us what Fatima needs to do in order to improve her Kumon work and to fully explain her work so she will be able to do it correctly at home.

“I think Kumon will help Fatima to become a more organised person in the future and to be more confident in learning new things and academic challenges. I also think that Kumon will make her into a quick learner which is a key skill she learnt through the programme.”

Fatima said: “Kumon has been a big part of my life since my childhood and it is the reason for me doing so well in school. It has helped me to greatly improve my speed and concentration in English as well as other subjects. Kumon is something I will treasure for the rest of my life and I truly feel privileged to be a part of it.”
