The centre opened its doors in 2008 and prides itself with the ability to support and nurture all students to reach their full potential via the maths and English study programmes.
The ultimate goal is to promote a friendly and happy centre where all who enter feel secure in the knowledge that the students will experience a motivational and confidence-boosting learning environment.
The study centre is located at the Abbots Langley Community Centre. There is a waiting room for parents with tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a viewing window for parents whilst in the main body of the centre, to observe their children in class. There is ample parking at the front of the centre and an overflow car park to the left of the building. The centre is located within the beautiful Manor House Gardens, and the high street is in walking distance.
There are Kumon assistants at the centre who are high-level Kumon students and there are also teaching staff / learning assistants from the local schools.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
Students at the centre are currently aged from two-and-a-half years old to secondary school age, although Kumon caters for children of all ages and abilities. This includes students who have learning difficulties, children who have fallen behind in their studies and those who want to be challenged further. Some students attend from neighbouring schools.
