"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"

Welcome to the Barnet Kumon Study Centre. This centre is a long-established centre and has been open for over 17 years. It has been run for the last 15 years by Lynn Fernandes. Children attend the centre for 20-40 minutes up to twice a week and follow an individualised daily study programme (completing up to 20 minutes homework per day), developing good study habits and improved levels of confidence and self-esteem.
On the maths programme students develop their numeracy skills as well as concentration, mental agility, accuracy and fluency. They study pure maths from pre-school to university level, including advanced algebra and calculus. The English programme focuses on reading comprehension skills but also builds skills in grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling, as well as fostering a love of reading from non-reader to Shakespeare.
Both programmes complement school work. Students range in age from five to 18 years old, and are of all abilities. Other benefits include improvements in confidence, mental agility and stamina. Kumon develops all round fluency and improves organisational skills as well as nurturing confident, independent learners.
Kumon study offers so much more than private tuition. Kumon provides long-term benefits to give students the best chance to succeed at school and in life. Kumon is a unique home/class tuition method developed over 50 years ago in Japan. The Kumon method was founded by Toru Kumon, a father who wanted to give his son the best start in life.
Unlike traditional lessons, Kumon students can drop in to class at any time during opening hours. We are open from 3.30pm – 5.30pm on Wednesdays and 9.30am – 11.30am on Saturdays. Kumon is a long-term programme, students should typically expect to study for at least one to two years to develop lasting benefits; some students at this centre have been studying with Kumon for over 10 years.
