The centre offers a permanent purpose built classroom for our students in a convenient location. and has been running since 2004. In that time, it has supported hundreds of local children with their studies.
The centre also has a comfortable waiting area for parents and free car park to the rear of the building.
There is a lot of experience at the study centre and students are supported by ten superbly trained assistants. Students currently range from pre-school to 16 years old, although the programmes are for children of all ages and abilities.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
Initially, students work in the newly enrolled area receiving one-to-one attention while good study habits are developed that can then be replicated at home. Once a student has developed good study skills they progress to the independent section of class.
The Instructor, Helen Goodbody, expects that every student is sat down and working within the first 60 seconds of entering class. She does not enter into lengthy discussion with parents during class as her time in class is devoted to the students.
