The centre has been operating since 1999. It has a well-established reputation and welcomes students from all ages and abilities, but currently has students aged between three and 18 years old.
The study centre is based in the Rugby Club which is next to Bicester Village. It has sole use of the premises during class times and therefore provides a focussed study area for all students as well as a waiting area for parents.
There is ample parking and good transport links; it is located close to many schools including St Mary's Primary School, Bicester Community College and Brookside.
The centre is popular with students from primary and secondary schools throughout Bicester and the surrounding villages as well as independent schools in Oxford, Buckingham and Warwickshire.
The centre actively encourages supplementary reading through the Kumon Recommended Reading List by having the full list of books available to read.
An annual Kumon awards ceremony is held at the centre to help celebrate the achievements of students, which students and parents are invited to.
All staff at the centre are trained and are recognisable by their Kumon uniform and name badges.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
