The centre has offered the Kumon Maths and English Programmes for over 15 years. Currently, the youngest students at the centre are in reception and the oldest is in sixth form, although the programmes are suitable for students of all ages and abilities.
Classes are held twice a week in St Mark’s Church Hall (opposite the Memorial Library and Swimming Pool) and provide a supportive, friendly environment in which students are encouraged to develop their study skills. Students can attend one or both sessions and are supported by both the Instructor and her staff of five class assistants. The class area is bright and airy and there is separate waiting room for parents and siblings. In addition to attending class, your child will also complete an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis.
St Mark’s Church Hall is easily accessible by car, public transport or on foot and offers onsite parking. A child studying one subject will generally be at the centre for approximately 30 minutes and for both subjects it will be approximately 40 to 45 minutes.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
