Welcome to the Blackheath Kumon study centre which provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. The hall is within walking distance of Lewisham High Street and can also be accessed by bus. Parking is available around the hall itself, although the area has recently become a "Pay and Display" zone during weekdays. The classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4.30pm –6.30pm. There are no set arrival times as children arrive at any convenient time and usually stay for between 30 minutes and an hour. Parents are required to remain on premises while their children are in class. Students normally attend once or twice a week.

Attending students are from the local area as well as neighbouring post codes and from both state and independent schools. The Blackheath Centre opened in January 2002 and we have students of all ages and abilities – at present our youngest students is 4 years old while our oldest is fifteen. A few of them have been there for 4 years and above.

By helping develop basic skills in maths and English, the Kumon programme builds confidence and boosts self-esteem as each child starts at a point they are comfortable with and masters the basics before moving onto more challenging work. Through attending the centre and completing the Kumon worksheets at home your child will also develop excellent concentration skills and study habits.

Enrolment takes place once a month (more frequently during Free Trials) usually on the second Saturday of the month. The session is between one and one and a half hour long and during this session I will discuss the programme with you and also find out what you are hoping to achieve for your child. There will be sample sheets for you to look at and the class routine, home marking etc will be explained to you. I will also test your child and determine a starting point.
