Welcome to the Kumon Boston Study Centre.

In every session, it is expected that each student studying the English programme will read aloud with a member of staff, they can choose a book from our dedicated reading area. The early learner area is lead by trained staff who specialise in working with very young children (our youngest is three), and/or children with additional needs. It is Kumon Boston’s aim to help all children develop to their full potential and ensure your child has the best possible learning experience with us.

At any given time during class, we have a maximum of 24 children and ten members of fully vetted and highly trained staff.

Whilst many of our students attend schools within the area and live in the local community, Kumon families also travel from towns/villages as far as Burgh-le-Marsh, Sleaford, Donington and Spalding. We will always try to ensure Kumon fits into your family life and that your child enjoys their study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

About the Instructor

Noveen Shaikh - Boston

Hello, my name is Noveen Shaikh and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Boston Study Centre.

I have been teaching for over 15 years, specialising in English, ICT skills and maths. I hold an honors degree in Psychology and my post graduate qualifications are in Child Psychology, Counseling and Teaching. My strengths lie in my communication, organisational skills and my passion for developing children.

As a mother of three, and having worked with children of various ages and abilities, I believe in the individualisation of learning. Each child has their own learning style and it is imperative that this be accounted for, in order to maximise their potential. I joined Kumon as an Instructor because the principles represent everything that I value and have tried to instill in my own children – self-learning, responsibility, ownership, accountability and sheer commitment. I do believe in the programmes and am very proud to put my name against the Kumon Method of Learning.

I find the Kumon programmes very exciting and believe that working together, you and I can support and nurture your child into a very able individual.

Kumon's long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance and transferable self-learning skills to realise their potential through school and life.

I do hope to welcome your child into our centre.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
