The centre is a friendly and supportive environment for students of all ages and abilities. Opened in 2012, students at the centre currently range in age from four to 15 years old.
The study centre is in a spacious venue at St Matthews Church; a listed building set in peaceful gardens and a local landmark near the Ritzy Cinema and the central library. It is wheelchair accessible and there is a lift for those who need it.
The centre is an open-plan, self-contained space, so we encourage parents and carers of children who need to be accompanied to the centre to leave them at the centre and pick them up at a pre-arranged time. For those who wish to wait, there is a small seating area. There is limited parking available on a first-come first-served basis; parking permits need to be requested from the reception desk.
The Instructor, Yasmin Fitzpatrick, works alongside four to six assistants who help with marking work, oral reading and student support. The team enjoy working with students looking to catch up with learning, or to move ahead. They are also keen to encourage younger learners, some of whom are learning to read, write and calculate for the very first time.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
