The centre was established in 2012 and runs from a classroom at the Tottenham Community Sports Centre.
It is easily accessible off Tottenham High Road, with ample parking, a waiting area for parents and a snack shop at reception.
The study centre is a familiar environment to learners, as it is a classroom setting with approachable staff, and has a strong emphasis on focus and concentration during study time. There is also an early learners corner where a member of staff is present at all times to ensure work is being completed to a good level, but yet allowing the young learner to practice their work skills independently.
The centre welcomes learners of all ages and abilities, with the current age range of learners at the centre from three to 21 years old. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
There are currently nine assistants and two senior staff members who carry out duties to assist the Instructor in the classroom. The assistants are responsible for marking and recording homework whilst the senior staff assist the Instructor in ensuring all students are being supported with their learning in the classroom. The Instructor focuses on observing the students as they study, target setting, communicating with parents and one-to-one feedback with students.
