The centre was re-opened at a new location in late 2012.
Classes are held in the main body of the beautiful St. John's Church, where movable screens give the space great flexibility, allowing separate areas for worksheet learning, testing, Numberboards and reading work, as needed.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
The study centre is ideally situated just off the high street, a short walk from three large, free car-parks. Parents can wait for students in the comfortable seating area or pop to the shops a minute's stroll away while their children attend class.
Many of the students attend schools within the area and live in the local community. Students of all ages and abilities are catered for and current students at the study centre range in age from six to 14 years old.
There are experienced class assistants working alongside the centre Instructor to support the students' development. The senior assistant is Liane Winter, who is an ex-English secondary school teacher and who was head of sixth form at Radyr Comprehensive School.
