Instructor Freda Watson, has been running the Kumon Cheltenham, Warden Hill Study Centre since 2011.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The aims of the programmes are to enable students to self-learn and gradually find that they can tackle new topics on their own, with Freda on hand to provide individual support to the students.
Kumon is for students of all ages and abilities, whether in junior, primary, or secondary school.
The Kumon Method of Learning builds a good foundation for students, by developing the concentration, study skills, speed, and strong mental arithmetic required for success. With a number of Grammar Schools in the area requiring students to sit the 11+ exam, these skills can prove extremely beneficial, especially if the student has been studying with Kumon from an early age.
Alongside Freda there are a number of class assistants who help in all aspects of running the classes, from marking and recording, to offering specific support to early learners, higher level maths students, and those struggling with English grammar.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
Students enrolled at the centre come from Warden Hill and the surrounding areas. Students come to class once or twice a week, and are given worksheets to complete at home for the rest of the week.
Kumon Cheltenham, Warden Hill is Ofsted registered, and we are able to accept childcare vouchers as a result. For more information on the childcare vouchers we accept, please do contact us via the contact information above.
