Established in 2009, the centre helps students of all ages and abilities, across both primary and secondary schools; the youngest student is five-years-old and is studying both the maths and English programmes, and the oldest student is 18-years-old and is currently studying maths.
The centre runs from Bullion Hall Community Centre, which is a comfortable, spacious and warm environment for learning. The centre boasts a reception area, (with a communication board), ample free parking and a separate waiting area for parents whilst their children are in class.
Working within the centre are three highly motivated and able class assistants, (one is currently studying at Durham University, and the other two are presently studying for their A-levels at local schools). Each assistant is highly valued for the skills they bring, and help to enhance the students’ experiences in what has over the years become a very successful centre.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes, pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
