The centre was established 11 years ago and has become an essential part of the local community. We provide maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities, and have helped over 700 local children achieve their potential. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. At present, approximately half of students at the centre are studying above their school level.
Students can attend the centre up to twice a week on a drop-in basis with classes lasting between 30 - 40 minutes per subject. Students are supported by class assistants who speak English, German, Arabic, Somali, Chinese, French and Swahili. Parents are welcome to wait during this time. Students can start at the centre from the age of four and many have been at the centre for over six years.
The majority of students at the centre live locally and attend schools in the area including Colindale, Hendon, Kingsbury, Queensbury, Burnt Oak, West Hendon, Brent Cross and other neighbouring localities.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
