The centre is located in the Ron Hoskins Hall, and features a spacious and bright hall with a separate seated waiting area for families whilst their children are studying. The centre can be easily accessed by foot, public transport or by car. The closest bus stop is outside the Deptford Fire Station, which is a six minute walk to the venue. There is ample free parking on the residential streets around the centre.
The centre welcomes children from as young as two, through to those who are studying for their A-levels and beyond. Students attend the centre on a regular basis and come from various local areas. Early learners at the centre have smaller tables and chairs to accommodate their height so that they are able to sit comfortably while learning.
The Instructor at the centre, Melody To, and the assistants observe the students as they complete their classwork and ensure every child’s time in class runs smoothly. All children are encouraged to read a book or complete the number board to complement their worksheet study during class.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
