The centre was established in 1997 and since then has helped many hundreds of children fulfil their true potential in both maths and English. The centre is conveniently located in the centre of Formby village with free parking and is wheelchair accessible. There is also a waiting area for parents in the centre.
Staff at the centre are all fully DBS checked and have received comprehensive Kumon training, including completing worksheets from the programmes. Kumon is suitable for children of all ages, and there are currently students at the study centre aged from three to 17 years old, with one-to-one supervision provided for new and young students whilst they develop their study skills. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
Students enjoy attending the centre once or twice weekly throughout the year. The atmosphere in class is relaxed and friendly and new students quickly realise that learning the Kumon way can be fun. Students enjoy additional activities after they have finished their class work, such as multiplication tables challenges, spelling games, sentence construction games and reading out loud.
Please note: Saturday's class runs from The Dove Centre, Formby Railway Station/Kirklake Road, L37 2JF.
