The Haslemere Kumon study centre was opened in 1995 by the current Instructor, Carole Coulson-Gilmer. Now, there are about 100 students at the centre studying English, maths or both. Their ages range from four to 16 years of age. Most students attend school locally or live in the area.
Kumon suits children of all ages and abilities because it enables them to:
• work at a pace suited to their individual needs
• develop invaluable study skills and concentration
• establish a positive attitude to study
A fifth of the centre's students have been studying for four years or more. The longer the students study, the stronger are their study skills and the confidence which they develop. These qualities help them to realise their potential at school and throughout their lives.
