The centre provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities and has been providing a valuable service for the local community since 2002.
It is located in the church in Thornhill Square in a quiet and safe environment away from the main road, with lots of parking outside. It is a pleasant facility that is safe and secure for children, with a foyer providing a waiting area for parents and young children to use with reading books and activities.
Currently, the youngest student is three years old and the oldest is 18. The centre has a friendly but studious atmosphere and there is a team of dedicated assistants on hand to assist students when required.
A number of motivational items are used such as stickers, certificates, prizes and medals. Feedback is given to students each week with praise, encouragement and guidance and feedback is also communicated with parents by phone, email or briefly at class.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
