The Kumon Jesmond Study Centre was established in 2012 and is located in permanent premises with bright, modern, purpose-built classrooms, providing a quiet and motivating learning environment for students. There is a large, comfortable waiting room for parents with hot and cold refreshments, free wi-fi and activities to keep younger siblings occupied while students are in class.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each and every child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Current students at the Jesmond Study Centre range from three to 16 years old and more than one third are studying at an advanced level for their age.
Students are supported in class by a team of ten carefully selected and comprehensively trained assistants. The Instructor and senior assistants are at the centre during office hours throughout the day, so parents may arrange to call in to discuss their child’s progress at regular intervals.
There are four class days a week to choose from, including Saturdays, and children under five may attend outside normal class times by prior arrangement. All students are encouraged to attend twice a week to receive the full benefits of the Kumon Maths and English Programmes and they are usually in the centre for around half an hour for each subject studied.
Students attend the Jesmond Study Centre from all local schools, and also from schools further afield due to its close proximity to the city centre and the central motorway.
The centre is easily accessible, as it is on the main bus route between the city and the coast, a short walk from Jesmond Metro Station and there is plenty of free on-street parking in the immediate vicinity.
