Welcome to the Kensington Olympia Centre which was originally opened in Brook Green in 1990. Our Kumon Centre, which has assisted over a thousand successful students over the past 18 years, has recently been relocated to the Masbro Centre as the Holy Trinity Parish Centre is undergoing major renovation works.

Enrolment

Before starting at our centre we ask prospective parents to give us a call to see if Kumon is what your child needs and also if is right for your current situation. We then send you our information pack so you can take your time as a family to read it through and help you to decide if Kumon is right for you.

If you decide that Kumon is right for you we will invite you to one of our registration evenings where we explain how Kumon works in more detail and answer any questions you have at that time. (Questions are encouraged and parents are welcome to call or email whenever they have any query about the programme.)

At the registration evening, the children are assessed to build a comprehensive picture of their current abilities and skills to establish their genuinely easy starting point on the Kumon programme.

Easy Starting Point

The easy starting point is an important part of the 'Kumon Philosophy' but we have a few parents who do not understand at first how important it is to our method of learning and ask us the reasons behind this. Here is a brief summary.

The easy start point ensures that:

  1. There are no gaps in your child's understanding of the subject.
  2. Your child builds confidence from day one.
  3. To establish the daily study habit ~ with difficult work this habit is hard to ingrain, but with a short easy piece of work it is easy to get into the regular routine of studying Kumon each day.

At the registration evening you will be given a Welcome Pack which contains all the information needed to understand our methods and how Kumon works at home. Parents are encouraged to read through this information before their child's first class.

Parents are always welcome to call me (outside of class time) for an update on progress or for information on motivation and goals for the children.
