The centre was opened in 1996 and is a thriving and important part of the local community. Students of a wide range of abilities, from in and around Knutsford, attend the study centre. There are currently students at the centre aged from three years old in pre-school, to 17 year olds currently doing their A-levels.
The study centre offers a welcoming, motivational environment and operates on a drop-in basis so students can attend at a time to suit parents and the students, up to twice a week. Each session lasts approximately 30-40 minutes.
There is a waiting area for parents and siblings adjacent to the main classroom.
There are a team of trained assistants who help ensure that the class runs smoothly and efficiently. All newly enrolled Kumon students will work initially on a one-to-one basis with an assistant who will help them to develop their study skills sufficiently so that they can go onto work on an independent basis at class.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
