The centre has been part of the local community since it opened in 1996.
It is located in Emmanuel Church Hall on Dudley Drive which provides a spacious study environment and has a convenient waiting area for parents, with an enclosed outside space for non-studying siblings to play.
The hall can also be easily accessed from London Road, North Cheam and is well served by local transport. There is ample free parking at the church as well as on the surrounding roads.
The majority of students at the centre attend local schools and range from pre-schoolers to those in secondary school studying A-levels. Within the centre there is a separate area for the early learners where they are provided with the necessary support to develop the required study skills and independence to progress.
Newly enrolled students are also closely monitored to ensure that they too acquire the study skills and self-assurance to go on to become confident, independent learners.
As well as the Instructor, the centre has a receptionist and 12 assistants who have been trained to support the development of the children participating on both the maths and English programmes and this includes providing activities such as listening to children read or reciting their multiplication tables.
There is a monthly newsletter and parents are kept regularly informed of their child’s progress.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
