Kumon study aims to ensure that every child develops a love for learning. We offer maths and English programmes to help students of any age and ability to progress their skills and build key foundations for learning. Traditional maths and English tuition helps students progress, but Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher.

Students complete daily worksheet study developing ability and fluency gradually over time, progressing in small steps and building confidence. They also visit their local study centre up to twice a week for guidance from their Instructor. Your child’s Kumon Instructor will set work at just the right level to challenge and keep them engaged, regardless of age or school year. This means that they can strengthen their key skills or progress beyond school grade level without restriction. Kumon offers a cost-effective and convenient way to help your child build strong English and maths skills for a successful future.

About the Instructor

Teaching and working with children has always been a passion of mine. I believe that children are born with unlimited potential; it’s up to us to teach them the skills that allow them to unlock it.

During my 11 years of teaching, I have gained invaluable experience developing students across all abilities and ages. I’ve always enjoyed challenging children to show me the best that they can be. Treating each child as an individual is one of my fundamental values.

I discovered Kumon in my youth and realised that it was not only a programme for learning English or maths, but a structured approach to develop the independent learning skills needed at every stage of personal development.

My daughter has just started her own Kumon journey, so I will also have the pleasure of experiencing Kumon from the perspective of the parent as well as the Instructor.

As your Instructor, I am excited to help your child become an effective, self-reliant learner – an indispensable skill for their future endeavours with 11+, secondary school, A-levels, university and/or career.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

My daughter started Kumon at the age of 5 and she has massively grown in her Maths and English thanks to Kumon. Kumon has helped build her strong foundation in both the subjects. Bhavisha and her team at Park Langley are lovely and very patient. They have always been available to boost her morale and give her confidence. I would absolutely recommend Park Langley Kumon. Bhavisha and her team connect with the kids easily. They encourage children to take the lead and guide them when necessary. All the staff are lovely and very patient with the children. Bhavisha understands the children’s needs really well and is more than apt in maximising their potential. She is flexible enough to personalise the learning schedule. The structured Kumon programme encourages children to practice Maths/ English at home daily and helps instil discipline and independence. Since June, Bhavisha has been giving classes through Zoom. Weekly homework is delivered to our house. As usual, she is always available for a quick chat and/ or to resolve any issues. Really happy that we chose Park Langley Kumon, Bhavisha and her excellent staff.

Bhavisha has been amazing at helping to take the stress off of home learning. I have three kids and it can be really difficult sitting down and doing the right thing for all three! For my middle child who is in year one, we went through the assessment process and found that Bhavisha managed to understand her and her needs really well! The structure of the programme means I no longer have to worry about sourcing the right activities, it’s all planned and given to me... I just have to pull it out of her Kumon bag! 👌🏽 By doing a little bit everyday, I have found her focus and independence is improving. She now knows the routine and is happy to get her work done as it doesn’t take hours to complete. 🤓 I’m looking forward to seeing where her Kumon journey takes her!

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
