"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"

Welcome to the Peckham Kumon study centre, which provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. We are based on Bushey Hill Road, off Peckham Road, opposite Camberwell College of Arts and the South London Gallery. Bushey Hill Road is a residential Road with free parking. It is also a short walk away from bus routes 345,436, 36, 12, 171 and 343.

Since opening in 2008 Kumon has proved very popular with local families and many of our students attend schools within the area and live in the local community. Students range in age (our youngest is four), and in some cases they have been studying Kumon for several years.

Kumon is a long term programme with students starting at a level that they are confident in doing. Students move up the levels of the programme at a pace that suits their individual needs. One of the most popular aspects of Kumon for my parents is the daily homework that is given. Our thinking is that 'little and often' is a much better way for children to learn and retain information.

Classes run twice a week on a drop in basis. Children are usually there for approximatey half an hour for one subject and an hour if studying both maths and English.

How do I join?

Prior to students starting, students, together with a parent or carer have to attend an enrolment meeting. This is an opportunity for me to provide more information about the programme.

We also assess the student during this meeting to establish what level they should start on. Remember, at Kumon, we work with the individual, so the students' starting point is based on their ability and not their age.

Once the student is assessed a start date will be agreed, usually within a week of the enrolment.
