Welcome to Pollokshields Study Centre. Our main focus is to promote independent learning by taking children 'back to basics' and concentrate on key topics such as mental arithmetic, times tables, reading and grammar.
How does it work?
Your child will come to class twice a week and will also complete a small piece of work each day at home. The programmes allow each child to work at their own carefully monitored pace. The work is individually set for each student depending on their study needs. Each student will start at an easy level which they feel comfortable with and this ensures any gaps in their learning are tackled, building confidence and motivation before moving onto higher levels. Kumon is a flexible programme which allows the student to repeat topics if necessary and can help students of all abilities become fluent in their work with an aim of achieving long-term goals and targets.
We also ensure that each student receives praise and is motivated throughout the programme, which plays an important part in each child's development. As a result the student becomes a more independent and confident learner.
