Welcome to the Portishead Kumon study centre, which provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. Many of our students attend schools within the area and live in the local community.

Kumon's long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance and the transferable self-learning skills to realise their potential throughout school and life.

With Kumon study your child will:

  • work at a pace that is tailored to their individual needs
  • develop invaluable study skills and concentration
  • establish a positive attitude to study

For further information about how Kumon can benefit your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Enrolments and ASR

Enrolments are held at your house at a time convenient to both of us, and are non-obligatory. Please call me on 01275 371510 to arrange your appointment.

You will have the Kumon programme explained to you in detail and we will discuss how to tailor the study to your child's own individual needs. A short (and very painless!) assessment of your child will be carried out to establish their start point on the programme; we will then discuss expected progress and some initial goal setting.

Ongoing communication between the parent and Instructor is imperative for smooth and successful progression and so whilst I encourage you to keep in close contact with myself via telephone and email, we will also arrange consultation meetings every 6 months.

Advance Student Roll

The Advanced Student Roll (ASR) is a national list of students studying at a significantly high level on the Kumon programme relative to their academic age.

Students work towards Bronze, Silver then Gold level, and during award ceremonies the students are presented with their relevant coloured certificate and medal. The events are not only aimed to encourage all students to strive to achieve more, but also to celebrate and congratulate each student on their ongoing hard work. The ceremonies are then followed by a celebratory event; in July, we held a swimming party which was a great success, enjoyed by over 100 students, siblings and parents!
