Welcome to the Purley Study Centre, where I have been an instructor since September 1995. I have a BSC in Maths and have completed the Kumon programme, so have an in depth knowledge and understanding of the material from a student's perspective, as well as over 15 years instructing experience. I have the ability to deal with children of all ages ranging from 3 and a half to 18 years.

 

The maths programme starts with basic number learning and numeracy skills and progresses to university level, covering material such as algebra and calculus without the use of calculators. As well as developing mathematical knowledge, the programme improves each child's concentration and confidence levels. Its individualised approach ensures that each child recognises their full potential, whilst developing the skills of independent learning.

 

The English programme begins with the fundamentals of literacy, reading and alphabet skills. It progresses through basic grammar to complex comprehension, whilst developing the discipline of reading and following instructions thoroughly. The texts studied provide the students with knowledge of a wide variety of subjects, which also engenders a passion for further reading in them.

 

The Purley centre has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with emphasis placed on focusing on each child's individual needs and helping them accept new challenges willingly. We also have a strong work ethic which is reflected in our results; every year many of our students qualify for the advanced student roll awards, which is a recognition of excellence.

 

Each child spends an average of 30- 40 minutes in the centre, either once or twice a week. Parents are welcome to wait in the reception room.
