The centre operates from Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church, which is situated in the Newby area of Scarborough. Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church is easily accessible by car, public transport and on foot. There are a number of primary and secondary schools within a short walk of the venue.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Currently, the youngest student at the centre is four years old and the oldest is 15, however the Kumon study programmes are suitable for students of all ages and abilities.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
Three class assistants currently support the Instructor. The class assistants support with the marking and recording of students work, listening to students read and working with the early learners. The furniture for early learners is appropriately sized.
There is an area within in the study centre for Numberboard activities and the centre also has a number of books for students to read which have been selected from the Kumon Recommended Reading List.
Car parking is at the rear of the venue and there is also on-street parking available. The study centre has a light and airy waiting room available for parents and siblings.
