The centre was opened in 1996 and operates from Banner Cross Methodist Church in Ecclesall.
Students of all ages and abilities attend the study centre, each striving to achieve their full potential in a friendly and supportive environment. As many of the students are from the local area and attend local schools, there is a true community spirit.
The Sheffield, South West Study Centre has an excellent reputation and many students commit to studying at this centre for many years; as a consequence, a high proportion of students who attend the centre are studying at an advanced level in English and maths. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
The Instructor, Catherine Potter, is supported by a team of assistants, almost all of whom have studied the Kumon programmes themselves. As the assistants have a great insight into the Kumon programmes, they are able to fully understand and implement the Instructor's targets for each student. The assistants are also able to forge good relationships with the students, as they fully appreciate the challenges, demands and great rewards which each and every student will experience whilst studying on the Kumon study programme.
The Sheffield, South West Study Centre is easily accessible by public transport and there is a small car park and ample on road parking available. There is also a waiting area adjacent to the classroom for parents and carers.
