The centre was first established in 2002 and has been run by the current Instructor since September 2010.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The study centre provides the maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. The youngest student at the centre is currently three years old and the oldest student is 16.
Classes run from Craven Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre near Aireville Park. The venue has on-site car parking, is easily accessible by public transport and is within walking distance of most of Skipton’s primary and secondary schools. There is also a café and outside play area where parents and siblings can wait for their children while they are in the centre.
Within the centre there is a separate area for newly enrolled students and early learners (very young children). These students work closely with my class assistants until they develop good study skills. Once these skills have been developed, the students then work independently in a separate area of the class.
Along with the Instructor, there is a senior class assistant who is DBS checked and four class assistants who mark work, record homework, listen to students read and check multiplication skills. Some of the class assistants are previous Kumon students who have studied the Kumon programmes to a high level.
