The centre was established in 1996 and since then has helped many hundreds of children fulfil their true potential in both maths and English. It is conveniently located in the centre of Churchtown parking and is accessible for wheelchairs. There is also a separate waiting area for parents in the centre.
Staff at the study centre are all fully DBS checked and have received comprehensive Kumon training – including completing worksheets from the programmes. Kumon is suitable for all ages, and students at the centre are currently aged from two to 17 years old. One-to-one supervision is provided for new and young students whilst their study skills are developed. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Students enjoy attending the centre once or twice weekly throughout the year. The atmosphere in class is relaxed and friendly and new students quickly realise that learning the Kumon way can be fun. Students enjoy additional activities after they have finished their class work, such as multiplication tables challenges, spelling games, sentence construction games and reading out loud.
Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.
