"Kumon is not always fun because it is challenging, but it is always successful provided parent, Instructor and student work in partnership."

Welcome to the St John's Wood Kumon Study Centre, where we can help your child develop their skills in both maths and English through a system of daily study using worksheets.
On the Maths programme, students develop numeracy skills as well as concentration, mental agility, accuracy and fluency. The English programme focuses on reading comprehension and also builds skills in grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling, as well as fostering a love of reading.
Both programmes complement school work, and cover material up until the equivalent of A level. Our students are of all abilities and from a wide mix of local primary and secondary schools, both state and private. Each session is staffed by a fully qualified Kumon Instructor and specialised assistants in both maths and English. We also have a dedicated assistant to support the under 5's.
Our students vary in age from 3-16 years, and study work at a range of levels which is determined by the individual child's ability as opposed to their school year/age. Many students who have completed just 12 months of Kumon worksheets find themselves more than a year ahead at school when compared to their non Kumon peers.
Your child will complete a worksheet every time they attend a Kumon session which will be marked by Kumon staff and corrected by the child. They will then leave with enough worksheets to complete one a day for the remainder of the week. This homework is handed in at the next session and reviewed by the Instructor. The average workload is 20 minutes per day per subject (less for pre-schoolers).
Our sessions run all year round on Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 3 – 6pm, and you can choose which day and at what time your child attends. The Amadeus Centre on Shirland Road is a fantastic local venue, with a large, inspiring hall for the children to work in, and a comfortable waiting area for parents/carers. There are plenty of residents' and pay and display parking bays available around the centre, and the number 6/187/414 bus stop is right outside.
If you would like to help your child improve their study skills and all round confidence, for a fraction of the cost of a private tutor, Kumon could be just right for you.
