The historic market town of Swaffham is central to the Breckland district. The Kumon Swaffham Study Centre supplies the Kumon supplementary education programme to Swaffham and its surrounding villages within Norfolk.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
The study centre can be found at The Regency Room within the Assembly Rooms in the Market Place. The building dates back to 1817 and is a grade II listed building that was refurbished in December 2005.
The Assembly Rooms are situated at the heart of Swaffham, adjacent to the market square where there is free parking. The Regency room is easily accessible via the stairs or ramp walkway at the main entrance doors.
Currently the age range of students at the centre is between four and 15 years old.
By forging close links with the Swaffham Library and using the Kumon Recommended Reading List, the centre provides a reading corner that facilitates all students’ reading needs.
There is a waiting area for parents directly outside of the Regency Room where chairs are provided. The centre is surrounded by the shops of Swaffham and there are ample opportunities to stop for refreshments in its many coffee shops.
