The Warrington South Study Centre, which has been open since 1996, is based in the bright and airy Quays Community Centre, which provides an ideal location and is a few minutes drive from Grappenhall and Stockton Heath. Students attend from these and other local areas, as well as further afield, such as High Legh. The centre has a large car park, and parents have the use of a waiting room and access to the kitchen, where tea and coffee is provided. A convenience store is also very close by.
Students at the centre currently range in age from two to 18 years old, with many having attended for five years or more. The team of 12 assistants, many of whom are current or past Kumon students, help the children with their work, listen to them read or work on mental maths. There is a separate area with small tables and chairs for the very young learners, where dedicated assistants work with them on a one-to-one or one-to-two basis.
The centre provides a welcoming and motivating atmosphere, where children are keen to learn and both effort and achievement are rewarded. Regular competitions and events are held to help make the centre part of the local community.
Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
