The centre which provides maths and English study programmes for students of all ages and abilities.
The centre was established over 20 years ago and it has been run by Instructor Halina Alderton for nearly 12 years. The room in which students work is a medium-sized space, carefully laid out in order to create a non-intimidating atmosphere with a small, separate waiting area for parents. Students can choose to attend either one of two sessions per week, and there are two marking assistants from local high schools at each session, each with an excellent command of English and maths.
The centre is close to the middle of Woodbridge and yet very accessible, with a great deal of parking space. Some students take advantage of the swimming pool situated nearby, to combine both mental and physical exercise on the same day.
The study centre comprises students from various backgrounds with a broad range of abilities and the unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Parents often give feedback to the Instructor about how their son or daughter has been moved to a higher group at school. Every year, several of the students apply for scholarships to local public schools, and to the top universities in country.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
