Welcome to the York Fulford Kumon study centre, which provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities.
Kumon's long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance and the transferable self-learning skills to realise their potential throughout school and life.
With Kumon study your child will:
• work at a pace that is tailored to their individual needs
• develop invaluable study skills and concentration
• establish a positive attitude to study
We have a thriving class of over 100 children of all abilities. We have welcomed children with:- dyslexia, dyspraxia, deafness, missed schooling, home schooling, lost confidence, a need to catch up, a need to keep ahead, English as a second language, and a desire to reach the highest potential.
The centre opened in May 2002. We have had students complete both the maths and English programme at the ages of 12 and 13, and still have students studying with us from the very beginning. About half the students are from within a three mile radius, the other half travel from all over the place to study with us. We have correspondence students who have been to class and moved, or can only come in during school holidays.
Most of the students have come to us through recommendation from friends and family and more increasingly though school. They range in age from 4 to 18 years old and many are dual subject. Some come to class twice a week, but most only come once because of travel and other commitments.
We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming and positive experience for our students, encouraging and guiding them to achieve to their best ability!
